Kevin’s legal experience

Kevin’s has helped his clients achieve their goals in many ways including:

Kevin worked in the private practice of law for twenty-five years with the firm of Owens, Schine & Nicola, P.C. in Trumbull, Ct.  There he was exposed to almost every area of the legal practice. He developed a concentration in commercial and business law, where he advised on the formation of business entities,  and their management, operation, financing, sale and termination. He also worked in estate planning, wealth management, estate settlement and trust administration. During this time he handled several business litigation matters.   Owens, Schine & Nicola, P.C. has a broad general practice and Kevin maintains a close collaborative relationship with that firm while pursuing his separate interests.

Then Kevin worked as an executive for a small business  - Palisades Media Corp., where he worked on financing transactions for film distribution companies and eventually became the prime manager of all its operations and marketing activities.  In August of 2011 Kevin left Palisades and created the Law Office of Kevin L. Burns in order to continue (he had always represented some clients while with Palisades) to provide his quality legal services at a fair and reasonable cost.

Throughout his career Kevin has been generous in his commitment to the legal system’s public service goals. He has provided pro-bono services to both individuals in need and charitable organizations that provide important community services, such as substance abuse counseling and shelter for elderly individuals among other important community works.

Atty. Burns joined BNI Flagpole Networkers. While a member, he worked closely with other professionals and business owners working in Newtown and surrounding towns. Banking, accounting, office management and support, energy efficiency and insurance are just a few of the areas were Kevin can assist his clients in finding competent and efficient support services. BNI Flagpole Networkers is the Newtown affiliate of BNI International, the fastest growing business networking organization in the world. In addition to Newtown, BNI International has chapters in Trumbull, Monroe, Brookfield, Bethel and other communities were Kevin Burns provides legal services

A long term member of the Connecticut Bar Association, Kevin participates in its Estates and Probate Section. The Section is a very good source for the best practices to be used in Probate Court matters and the diverse issues arising in estate planning and wealth management.

Kevin is now approved as by the Judicial Department to act as Guardian ad Litem (GAL) or as an Attorney for Minor Child (AMC).  He completed more than 30 hours of formal training, augmented by extensive self -study. This approval allows him to represent the interests of minor children in divorce cases when parents can not agree on custody and visitation issues as well as the many cases involving the children of never married parents.
